Date Night with Hubs

This past Saturday my parents watched our little munchkins so I could have a date night with John. We were celebrating our 8 year anniversary. We had reservations to a fine dining restaurant in our area called Jax New Orleans Bistro . My parents gave us a $25.00 voucher to go towards our meal. It is fabulous and the ambiance is romantic. It was nice that it was just me and my husband for the first time in a few months. There were no kids to tend to. No crayons to pick up off the floor. No sippy cups spilling. No sudden shrieks from my youngest. No fifty questions on why they took my white napkin away from my oldest. We were sat at our table and a lady came by with a black linen napkin and took the white one from my place. She explained that I had black on that they didn't want the white linen to leave any marks on my dress. (I never thought about that....they do leave white fuzz on you).

I enjoyed a glass of wine and hubs had a new orleans dark draft beer. Yummy! I ordered the best french onion soup and John ordered crab bisque. We were served a roll and a sample of molasses butter, garlic butter, and a plain butter. Molasses was my favorite and John liked the garlic. We received a complimentary appetizer of pasta salad topped with a small piece of tenderloin. (The chef prepares an appetizer that comes with all meals....it can be anything that he chooses and changes daily. I have heard that he has done sushi too and that it is great).

Our service was impeccable and the meal was timed perfectly. I ordered a peppered tenderloin with a Tabasco cream sauce on it. Hubs ordered a stuffed oyster tenderloin. The presentation of the plates were like art. It tasted magnificent. John was very pleased and can't wait to go back again. Next time we go....I am bring my camera. :) We didn't order dessert, but I saw one come out and it looked great.

We then went and saw the new Indiana Jones Movie. Being a Indiana fan...I thought it was great. The popcorn was good too.

Coincidentally, I wore the same dress that I wore to my dinner rehearsal party 8 years ago. It fits good, but is actually loose. :)

Teddy Bear Clinic at Anmed

Kelly and me working the Teddy Bear Clinic!!

On May 17th our hospital we work for had a Teddy Bear Clinic. Let me explain. It is available to children up to age 10. A child will bring it's teddy bear or favorite stuffed animal and see what would happen if it broke it's arm, needed a breathing treatment, a x-ray, or even if their bear needed surgery. It let's a child know what will happen so perhaps the anxiety of coming to the hospital will not be so bad. We had the Clemon Tiger mascot at the event. Here are some pictures of our booth.

The Clemson Tiger!! GO TIGERS!!

My boys came to the event with their daddy to visit me and take a look around.

The helicopter was their favorite!! I think Daddy's too!

Kelly and I had a blast working with all the kids.

We can't wait to do it next year....

I Love you John...

Today is our 8 year anniversary. The time went by fast. We met by chance back in October 1993 via internet. (that is another blog) We have had a few ups and downs and you have always loved me despite my flaws. I can count on you and when I need a hug...you are always there. You are a wonderful father and loving husband. You are my life....my world....my everything. Love & stuff, Vicky

Friday Funnies!

These are some of the things that my 2 boys have said recently that has made me laugh. I love the way they think!

1. "I need a breathing treatment on my neck." (Nolan woke up with a stiff neck yesterday and thinks his nebulizer is a cure all)

2. "EEEEEEWWWWWW that stinky." (Braydon smelling his feet)

3. "I'll be your best friend." (Nolan tells me this when he wants something)

4. "I love you guys". (Braydon got this from me)

5. "I am on green and had no accidents today." (Nolan greets me at the door at daycare when he has a fantastic day....BTW he got a "GOOD" note sent home yesterday on how well he is behaving)

6. "DADDY!" (what Braydon calls me often.....I'm Mommy!)

7. "Today I am going to build a playground." (Nolan tells me this every morning...DAddy is going to build them one in the next couple of weeks)

8. "NOOOOOWAN." (This is how Braydon calls his brother)

9. "Rub my butt." (I rub my kids' bellies and heads when they hurt...apparently Nolan's butt hurt that day. LOL)

10. "When I grow up, I want to be big like daddy. I also want boobies." (I didn't know what to say to Nolan on this one. LOL )

AND I was working at Impressions at the Cancer Center here at the hospital yesterday...there was the grumpiest old lady I have ever seen....she was really mean and ugly to me and a co-worker. Another customer even told me "God bless you for putting up with that." I don't know what came over me, but the lady said something mean again to me and I looked at my co-worker and said "I don't like helping grumpy old women." A couple minutes later the grumpy lady needed to go to the bathroom and I walked her across the lobby to where it was at. She told me "You sure are fiesty!" and I told her "YOU sure are too!" She finally decided I was ok because she was "tolerable" the rest of her visit!

Auntie Crystal and Braydon

These are left over pictures from Braydon's and Crystal's birthday weekend. Auntie Crystal's birthday is 9 days after Braydon's. We were celebrating her birthday and I got a few cute pictures of them together. (She will probably kill me for posting these). LOL The first one is my favorite with their giggles at each other!

Snowbirds Air Show

We went to a fabulous free airshow the other afternoon. The Canadian Snowbirds were using our little city's air space to practice and perform a show. I forgot how much I enjoyed this. My father was in the Air Force so we often went to these growing up. The jets are soooooo close to each other and they seemed to play chicken with each other. They even landed 3 jets at a time down the runway...all within a few feet of each other. (there are 9 snowbirds.) I had heard they lifted off that way too. AMAZING! Enjoy

Taking a trip down memory lane

I was browsing through a bunch of older pictures and came across these when I was preggo with both of my boys! Join me with a trip down memory lane. Warning, watch out for HUGE bellies!

I was pregnant back in the summer of 2004 with Nolan. These are pictures in front of our condo with my four-legged child "Cheyenne."

It was very hot that summer. Thank goodness I didn't have morning sickness with him. My husband and I went to childbirth classes...they were a fun experience to share.

Here was his nursery!

I was getting ready to go into the hospital that night when we took this picture. Nolan was 20 months at the time. We had moved into a house that we bought between the two pregnancies.

I had an amnio done that morning (my kidneys were acting up). Everything checked out OK, so it was off to the hospital to get Braydon at 37 weeks!

The memories........

Thursday Thirteen - 13 Pet Peeves of mine!

1. Idiots that will not stop their cars when you are on the crosswalk. It is like they truly are blind or stupid...maybe both!

2. Heels that clank on the floor. You know the ones that are REALLY loud like someone bouncing a metal ball on the floor.

3. Parents that smack their kid and tell them they better stop crying. DUH! Let me smack you and see if you stay quiet!!! It's just not right.

4. People who are ignorant about breastfeeding. I agree the choice is yours. However to not breastfeed because you think it is gross or sexual is just weird. Grow up!

5. Pee on a toilet seat! Eeeewwwww. Ladies, use toilet paper!

6. Sorry Hubs....asking me if the air conditioner is working right. My final answer is that it works so great that I walk around with fuzzy socks and a sweater to keep my teeth from chattering. ;)

7. People who have known me for AWHILE and still spell my name with an "i" instead of a "y."

8. Ice cream cones that leak from the bottom. You try to "enjoy" your ice cream cone, but somehow it always turns into a race and you gobble it up!

9. This is one from my earlier days....I would deliver my customers their food and explain that the plate is H-O-T!! They would always grab for the plate after I sat it on the table and exclaim "THIS IS HOT!"

10. Gas Prices. Enough said!

11. People who try and mouth what they want to say across the room without making a sound. I tell them "I do not read lips well!" AND THEY STILL CONTINUE TO MAKE A SILENT CONVERSATION WITH ME! I'd do better with sign language....Hmmmm maybe that is what I'll do the next time that situation happens.

12. Doing the same thing over and over and over again! Like stuffing or addressing envelopes.

13. Cigarette Butts being thrown out of automobiles. Cigarette Butts being left on the ground. HELLO...this is littering and in some states it carries a $500.00 fine. It can take almost 10 years for one of those poisoning pieces of crap to biodegrade.
